R.I.P. Whitney Elizabeth Houston

16 Feb
August 9, 1963 – February 11, 2012

On February 11th, the world lost “The Voice” around 3:55 pm at the Beverly Hilton in the tender age of 48. Whitney’s lifeless body was found submerged underwater when ambulance arrived at the scene.

It is without a doubt that she had an incredible record-breaking career. With Guinness naming her as the “most awarded female act of all time”. Throughout her lifetime she has collected 2 Emmys, 6 Grammys, 30 Billboard Music Awards, and 22 American Music Awards equalling to 415 awards total. Before selling 170 million albums worldwide, Whitney was a model gracing her face in magazine covers like Seventeen magazine in which she became the first colored woman to be in the cover. She was also appeared in layouts in Glamour, Cosmopolitan, and Young Miss.
Regardless of the negative press and the infamous “Crack is Wack” Diane Sawyer interview, Whitney Houston will always be known for her mezzo-soprano voice. Of course how can she not have such a true regal talent? Her god-mother is Aretha, her aunt is Dee Dee Warwick, and her mother was a backup singer for Elvis “The Pelvis”. Whitney can mesmerize an audience and bring a tough girl to her knees just by standing on stage and sing. No illusions, fireworks, and dancing that many talentless, as my high school History teacher would call, Show Pons (shout out to Mr. Knox!). Many people can focus on her negative lifestyle but in the end she had true talent. I do not recall any female singer that can act and have 3 blockbuster hits. I know for damn sure it’s not Mariah; even Evita did not give Madonna any justice.
Whitney Elizabeth Houston will be greatly missed. All my condolences and prayers goes out to her friends and family.
P.S.
I blame Bobby

R.I.P. Kenickie

9 Jun
October 5, 1950 – May 27, 2011

“Relax… A hickie from Kenickie is like a Hallmark card, when you only care enough to send the very best!

When I found out that Jeff Conaway died, I was sad and saw it coming. I was sad because I remembered being obsess with his character Kenickie from his most well-known role from the 70s musical Grease. Why not John Travolta’s character you say?…because Danny Zuko was not as bad as Kenickie. He holds a special spot in my childhood memories along with the Spice Girls and Rage Against the Machine’s Evil Empire album. I saw it coming when I watched the first season of Celebrity Rehab in which I was surprise about his condition because previously on VH1, they aired a  Grease Cast Where Are They now? Kenickie was a devoted Christian! So, seeing him addicted to prescription drugs and other substances was shocking and heartbreaking when I saw his physical condition.

Even with the last images that he has inserted in our minds outside of his glory days when he was in Grease and the t.v. show Taxi, he will be forever known as Kenickie the greaser that laid a hickie on our hearts.

P.S.
My condolences goes out to his friends and family.

Le Sigh

30 Apr

This is what came first to my mind and feel when I realize I am in love:

Enough said, but would it be too much to ask my love to reenact one of my favorite scenes of all time? All we have to do is find a water fountain and we are good to go.

R.I.P. Dame Elizabeth Rosemond Taylor

23 Mar

February 27, 1932 – March 23, 2011

The beautiful Elizabeth “Liz” Taylor died early this morning  at the age of 79 years old in Cedars-Sinai Medical Center due to congestive heart failure. Elizabeth Taylor was the last of the iconic Hollywood beauties that defined what a real movie stars looks like. She was known for her regal beauty that she embodied on and off-screen, her massive collection of jewelery, humanitarianism, on-screen talent, her immortal fight from death, and of course her many marriages.

Who wouldn’t want to marry Elizabeth Taylor? She was a women with beauty, grace, virtue, talent and class. Many would say that she was also known for her “Hollywood lifestyle” but I just see it as her living her life in a limitless fashion in the public eye. She was what women should look up to during her time. With her toughness, grace, brain, independence, sex appeal and her way of calling the shots on her terms. Elizabeth Taylor came in this world with grace and she exited out with grace. She will be truly missed.

P.S.
My condolences and prayers goes out to her family and friends.
