Songasm Of The Day

24 Mar

Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata was originally titled Quassi una fantasia, which in Italian translates to “Almost a Fantasy”. He composed the song in 1836 dedicating it to Countess Giulietta Guicciardi who both her and Beethoven fell in love after their first few lessons. It was believed that Beethoven propose to Giulietta for her hand in marriage but all came to a halt due to Giulietta’s parents forbiddance.

The original title was changed several years after Beethoven’s passing to the well-known title, Moonlight Sonoata, by Ludwig Rellstab. Who was a German music critic that claimed that the song reminded him of how the moonlight reflected off of Lake Lucerne.
